Welcome to the Arete Coach Podcast, hosted by Severin Sorensen, with a story of an executive and father who went from Record Store Owner To Stay-At-Home Father to a Renowned Coach. I've titled the episode: "Resilience on Record: The Path from Music to Mentorship."

In this episode, recorded via Zoom on February 9th, 2024, we are delighted to welcome Hal Brody, a Vistage Chair, Business and Leadership Coach, and President of HBW. Hal's extensive experience as an entrepreneur, having founded and led various businesses in music, publishing, and retail, makes him a remarkable guest. Known for his dynamic approach to leadership and coaching, Hal is a guiding light in mentoring, executive coaching, self-discovery, and personal development.

In this captivating episode, Hal Brody shares his multifaceted journey from owning Penny Lane Records to becoming an acclaimed business leader and executive coach. His story is one of resilience, adaptability, and passion for mentoring. As an SBA mentor with SCORE and a Vistage Chair since 2013, Hal has committed himself to enhancing the lives and careers of many by focusing on personal and organizational mission, vision, and values. His approach to coaching, emphasizing empowerment and growth, resonates deeply with the Arete Coach Podcast's mission of exploring excellence in executive coaching. Failure is a schoolmaster for Hal, and he has gotten back up each time he has fallen. Throughout the interview you hear how valuable Hal's children are to him, and the sacrifices he has made for them.

Memorable Quotes: "I used to say, 'People, process, and persistence.' And then I decided to make it five, which it turned out to be people, process, people, persistence, and people, because it's really all about people."

"Self-love is the pebble in the pond of world peace. Start there." - Hal Brody

"Kindness trumps everything in my book."

"Everybody's doing the best they can. It's sometimes tested with those types of people. But we all run into them. But yeah, I think all you can do is cut them out of your life."

"Growth is gradual and then all at once."

The Arete Coach Podcast seeks to explore the art and science of executive coaching. You can find out more about this podcast at aretecoach.io.
