Welcome to the Beyond the Scope Podcast presented by ND MD. This podcast continues the mission of sharing the incredible stories and experiences of students, physicians, and healthcare professionals...but this time it's all about the things all those years of medical training doesn't prepare you for. Things that are beyond the scope of our practice. Whether it's navigating starting a family as a medical student or physician, or learning how to invest as a student, the goal is to bring on incredible guests who can guide you through those puzzling questions. Today we have a fellow medical student YouTuber Shaun Andersen, a 2nd year med student at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at University of Nevada Last Vegas giving us an in depth look into how his channel started and his evolution as a staple in the med student vlogger community. Going back to his first videos, Shaun gives some incredible advice to the prospective or current medical school applicant including interview tips, how to strengthen a personal statement, and guidance on how to enjoy the process. Check out Shaun on YouTube and Instagram and thank you for watching or listening :).

Beyond the Scope

Hi everyone, my name is Andy (ND for short) and I am a photographer/videographer turned medical student at the Medical College of Georgia seeking to share stories, teach others, and maybe inspire someone along the way. Giving you the unfiltered view of what it's like to be a med student while trying to have a little fun in the process.

During this show, we will interview medical students, practitioners, and professionals about the things that make up their life that are "Beyond the Scope" of their typical responsibilities. We'll cover topics like marriage in medical school, managing extracurriculars, building your resume, and more!
