Insecticide seed treatments are starting to wear off as tillering begins, so late-autumn-early winter is a potential risk period for aphids in autumn sown wheat crops. But, says FAR cereal researcher Jo Drummond, before you start applying chemicals, get out and see if the ‘good guys’ are saving you some time and money by doing the job for you.
