When you think about philanthropy, what image comes to mind? White men with deep pockets opening up their chequebook, writing big donations that barely make a dent in their wallets.
August is black philanthropy month, a time to question their image of philanthropy and offer a space to amplify black voices in the industry. To create a real call for change and create a more diverse and inclusive space for all philanthropists.
Mide Akerewusi and Ade Oguntoye join the podcast to discuss the Giving Black conference. A global conference drawing philanthropic voices and viewpoints from across Africa's diaspora to explore how collective action can elevate equity in our unequal world.
We talk about the meaning of black philanthropy and how we can challenge our past and make way for a better future.
