In this episode, Peter tells a story of a woman who was running her own business and went through major changes in her life.

Liz Philippou is a semi-retired businesswoman who ran an agency for young talent called Mostly Kids.

Peter, introduces her and explains how she was a model and has been involved in many other businesses. Adam, her son, is now running the business, and Liz is helping him by standing back and seeing what he can do to make it even better.

The conversation is centred around the importance of stepping back and working on the business instead of in the business. It was highlighted that it is easy to get into the habit of just putting out fires and running around, but as the business grows, it is important to have the ability to observe and look at the business from above.

Liz shared their own experience of starting up a kid's modelling agency and taking out a six-month lease on a commercial property, which was a big commitment to make.

Overall, the conversation highlighted the importance of working on the business, rather than just in the business. Liz began by discussing their big commitment in 1984 and how it would have been even harder then.

Peter and Liz then discussed the responsibilities of tenants, such as having to pay three months' rent in advance and all legal costs.

Liz then went on to explain that she had a background in the modelling industry and began to see that the department stores were changing their buying habits.

This led to the speaker having to re-audition at the age of 32 to continue working at David Jones.

And how she noticed a hole in the market for companies, wanting children as models for their catalogues and commercials, but not having a go-to person in Adelaide. Liz was able to supply the market.

Liz also shared with Peter she liked to observe people and work with her clients to give them an overall experience and why it's important
