To love thy neighbor, one must have the attitude to treat other people as they would treat themselves. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Love thy neighbor is a golden rule from the Supreme Being, so people can learn how to live in his kingdom. When love is not the dormant factor, hate is in the midst. Hatred is a domestic violence act committed by people who have love in their hearts for their fellow neighbors. This kind of people usually commit violence against people of different races and cultures. Negro's are prime examples of how other people of different races and cultures have expressed their hatred towards them. This kind of violence has caused Negro Americans to suffer from a marred self-image that has significantly scarred their psychological being. It also caused a negative self-concept, which led to self-destructive attitudes and a struggle toward equality in American life. Fortunately, the month of February helps create hope for people who suffer from equality. It gives Negro Americans to rewrite a positive self-image of themselves and celebrate self-love through the acknowledgment of Negro History Month.
