Y en parte tiene sentido ya que la música del trompetista y trombonista Clifford Thornton tiene mucho que ver con el trabajo de Ornette. Clifford Thornton, compositor, educador, trompetista, trombonista y activista político, puede que sea uno de los músicos más subestimados del panorama free jazz y al que sin duda, su activismo político, pasó factura como músico.
