Many of the productivity books and ideas start with you ready to take action and sat at your desk, or in front of the cleaning cupboard, or with tools in hand for the garden.
I wanted something different. Something that started with me sat on the sofa, thinking about doing something but then procrastinating.
The 5 second rule was the answer for me. Thanks Mel Robbins. A great book, an easy concept and one which really works.
Have a listen and give it a go. I would love to hear if it works for you.

Life Aspland: Productivity & Sanity for Parent Carers
A practical, honest podcast for exhausted parent carers who want to feel more organised, less overwhelmed, and vaguely human again.
Each week, Debs Aspland shares simple tools, planning tips, advocacy support and mindset shifts to help you calm the chaos, tackle the paperwork, and reclaim a little headspace. No pressure, no toxic positivity — just real strategies for real people juggling impossible loads.
Debs is a qualified performance management coach, experienced speaker, and SEND parent of three. She’s also a planner and stationery addict, a productivity nerd, a bit sweary, and passionate about helping other carers stop firefighting and start feeling more in control.
Whether you’re buried under EHCP forms, preparing for another meeting, or just trying to finish your tea before it goes cold, this podcast is for you.
You’ll also find past interviews with fellow parent carers, advocates and changemakers, sharing their wins, lessons and laughs.
Because surviving the system shouldn’t mean losing yourself.
