Humor relates to our ‘funny bone’, supposedly existing to trigger feel-good neurotransmitters and mental insights, causing laughter and new perspectives on our world. Comedians use set-up language and juxtaposing issues that jolt us into seeing things in a different way. Bold comedians tackle controversial current issues or personalities, social injustice or cultural mores, performing a societal task historically taken up by philosophers.
