Lake Country Rural Health Initiative - Making A Difference Where It's Needed Most!

I’m joined today by two young medical students, who will be young doctors in a few years! That, in itself, is pretty impressive. But what really makes these two young men stand out is that they play a big role in a local non-profit called the Lake Country Rural Health Initiative, whose mission is to ensure that rural communities receive equitable access to healthcare.

Jered Miller and Aaron Dino will discuss what interested them in improving rural health opportunities, how the program began and what they are currently working on to bridge the healthcare gap in these underserved areas. They work alongside Dr. Chronos, a well-known cardiologist who brought Lake Country Medical Group to the lake area, and who has a keen interest in improving and expanding rural health care.

Our conversation will include opportunities in rural medicine, the challenges and the life-changing work they are doing. We will also discuss how technology, such as telemedicine and now artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how medical providers deliver results. You’ll hear some real world applications that they are applying!

And we’ll talk about how these young men, and everyone involved in the project team, are making a difference, not just locally, but ultimately in the world!

Lure of the Lake

Lake Oconee, Georgia, located halfway between Augusta and Atlanta, is a man-made paradise with incredible beauty that makes it a great vacation destination for people of all ages. More than that, though, it's a community for those that are looking for a peaceful life filled with nature and beauty.

I, myself, am a member of that community. I moved to Reynolds in 2020 and started to hear the incredible stories of its residents. Join me, now, as we take a plunge into some fascinating stories of the many well-lived lives of our community and learn why they were Lured to the Lake.
