Jazz Matters has been quiet for some time.

During that period, I moved home, began putting together a new studio, and also lost my father.

I needed to step back, deal with life properly and avoid continuing with Jazz Matters when I could not give it the time or attention it deserved.

This podcast will briefly explain that period without going into unnecessary personal detail.

The focus will then move towards what the time away allowed me to do: reconsider the direction of Jazz Matters, bring greater focus to the project, and begin rebuilding it around the music and writing that matter most to me.

I will introduce the rebuilt Jazz Matters website at:

www.jazzmatters.world

The website will become the clear home for the podcasts, (Shows, Mixes, Selections and Much More).

Music Player,

JM Studio Notes is my notice board — somewhere for news, thoughts, updates and occasionally pieces like this one.

Sleeve Notes (blogs) is my home for shorter writing about music, people, and anything else that catches my interest.

Jazz Lines is where you'll find the longer articles, stories and more in-depth pieces.

And there's the Conversation Room, where I'll talk with artists, DJs, producers, sound engineers, venue managers, and other people who make the independent and non-mainstream music world happen.

The full Jazz Matters relaunch will take place on:

Thursday 12th Nov 2026

Jazz Matters

I built Jazz Matters as my home for contemporary jazz, nu-jazz, and world music — and now it’s also home to a small number of guest shows and mixes from people I rate.

Expect contemporary jazz, nu-jazz, and global sounds — with tracklists, long reads, interviews, and playlists that go deeper than the usual.

Jazz Matters is a not-for-profit hobby project I’m extremely proud of. It began in May 2021 as a weekly radio show on a London community station, and that spirit of discovery still guides everything I do.

Today it reaches 40,000+ open-minded listeners across 57 countries on 24+ platforms.

In 2026, I’m taking things up a gear with clear sections: JM Studio Notes, the Music Player & Show Notes inc Playlists, Sleeve Notes and Interviews.

A full digital relaunch from my new studio follows — and after that, Jazz Matters podcasts and mixes will be exclusive to this website.

A bold new chapter begins soon. New location. New studio. New player.

Jazz Matters — because the music, and everything around it, truly does.
