When a call comes in that someone in your family has been the victim of a serious crime your first reaction is disbelief. You think, “how can something like that happen in my family”? Getting the news about a violent crime against my sister was one of the most devastating things I’ve ever experienced in my life. In this episode I share about the impact of this experience and how I’ve learned to manage it.

About the Host:
Sharon Kotsonas and her family have called Arizona home since 2005. Sharon is a licensed Realtor, and is involved in civic and social causes, working to improve the quality of life for people in her community and beyond. Sharon has facilitated support groups for Hurting Moms and Grieving Moms. In 2019 Sharon founded Weekly Collective, a nonprofit that works closely with the Town of Gilbert to provide elderly residents assistance with yard work.
Sharon volunteers her time to serve on various boards like FOT Gilbert (For Our Town Gilbert), La Belleza Nos Une Foundation, Desert Southwest United Methodist Conference, and most recently Grace Outreach Center in Gilbert.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Sharon moved to AZ in 2005 and has settled in the town of Gilbert, AZ with her husband Karl and her 3 children. Sharon lost a 23-yr. old son in 2015 as a result of a drug overdose. Her faith, family and friends have been the main support through her grief and healing journey.
Sharon is a licensed Realtor. Her dedication to helping others led her to facilitate a support group for Hurting Moms® and Grieving Moms® for a total of three years. She continuously invests in the well-being of her community and strives to support causes that promote spiritual, social and mental wellness.
