Forgotten was first featured in our Senior Moments Season 1, Episode 8 in 2020. We are so excited to revisit them again and welcome back the founders Kathi Snow, Sandi King and this time their Mom Peggy McKenney, from Jacksonville, FL
Kathi, Sandi, and Peggy founded Forgotten Angels as a non-profit organization and have grown this idea over the years to what it is today, serving close to 40 nursing homes and over 3000 elders each year.
Peggy, originally from Lexington, KY is the mother of 3, retired and has lived in the Jacksonville since 2004. As co-founder of Forgotten Angels, she is the treasurer and as you will hear, is the liaison between the Angles and the nursing home activity directors. Even though she is in her 80's, you will hear how this lady just keeps things rolling!
Sandi serves as the Vice President and is usually the "voice" of the Angels getting the word out about their activities and making connections.
Kathi is the President of Forgotten Angels. Everything goes through Kathi! She is in charge of all decision making for all Angel activities and is the "spread sheet" organizer for all they do!
The Forgotten Angels continued their mission as best they could in 2020, surviving the pandemic and now moving forward stronger than ever. With the help of a generous community, amazing volunteers and those wonderful patrons who buy that jelly...this organization just can't be stopped. You will hear how their homemade jelly sales help fund what they do, their growth plan and need for more volunteers.

...and a quote from the interview: "Love those old folks. Cause with the little luck in the Lord to see you through one day, you will be old folks too." From the song by Ronnie Milsap, "Old Folks"

Meet the Host

Carol Chiarito public speaker, financial consultant, author, podcaster, wife, mom, grandma and great grandma! (not necessarily in that order!)
As a former teacher and coach, education is the center of all of her businesses. However, in 2009 Carol began looking for elder care for her mother and found the experience harrowing. Since then she has been working with seniors and their families to create a plan for aging, senior living and retirement.
Through the experiences with her Mom, Carol started the non-profit "The Love A Senior Company" to bring awareness to seniors of products, ideas, technology, and where to find the answers to the questions everyone has as well as to teach the celebration of aging.
The popular "Love A Senior Day" (available for any city to bring to town to create a celebration for the community's seniors), as well as the "Senior Moments" Podcast, the Love a Senior Pen Pal program and our Love A Senior Center Projects are all a part of the workings of The Love A Senior Company.
Carol is active on many boards in her community, statewide, and nationally. She is a past President of the local Kiwanis Club of Pueblo, and is now serving as Governor Elect of the Rocky Mountain District of Kiwanis. Carol has served on the National Governance Committee board for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), as well as many positions with Million Dollar Round Table Foundation, and served on the foundation of the local Parkview Hospital.
Carol also hosts a podcast about financially aging, called "JubilAge", with special guests offering tips and ideas about finances as we age. It can be found wherever you get your podcasts.
Carol and her husband Rick have five children and eleven grandchildren. In her free time she enjoys traveling, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and visiting the children, and grandchildren.
