With over 1 Million older adults being served in America each year by local senior centers, the need for the services will only continue to grow as the boomer tsunami strengthens. The need for senior centers and a central gathering place for social, informational, and instructional events is becoming more and more important than ever before.
The Love A Senior Center Project model was conceived by Carol Chiarito, founder of the non-profit Love A Senior Company. Conversations held at a visit home for a friend's funeral led to learning the needs of the Wray Seniors. The plan to roll out this project in her home town became obvious when a longtime friend and board member for the 55 and Over Club, asked for her presentation to the board. The board approved the project and kick off was held January 12.
The goal is for Wray to have the best possible resources for its seniors and aging population. The project was brought to Wray by the leaders of the 55 and Over Club who see the need and in learning about the project agreed it is something that will benefit Wray and the Yuma County area. The project works in 3 phases beginning with information gathering and listening to the community. Then phase 2 will be compiling, collaborating and creating, and finishing with phase 3 to release and CELEBRATE with the Love A Senior Company's signature Love A Senior Day!
This fun podcast was recorded at the Wray Kickoff event, January 12 and includes interviews with attendees as well as a message from one of the board members of the club.

Meet the Host
Carol Chiarito public speaker, financial consultant, author, podcaster, wife, mom, grandma and great grandma! (not necessarily in that order!)
As a former teacher and coach, education is the center of all of her businesses. However, in 2009 Carol began looking for elder care for her mother and found the experience harrowing. Since then she has been working with seniors and their families to create a plan for aging, senior living and retirement.
Through the experiences with her Mom, Carol started the non-profit "The Love A Senior Company" to bring awareness to seniors of products, ideas, technology, and where to find the answers to the questions everyone has as well as to teach the celebration of aging.
The popular "Love A Senior Day" (available for any city to bring to town to create a celebration for the community's seniors), as well as the "Senior Moments" Podcast, the Love a Senior Pen Pal program and our Love A Senior Center Projects are all a part of the workings of The Love A Senior Company.
Carol is active on many boards in her community, statewide, and nationally. She is a past President of the local Kiwanis Club of Pueblo, and is now serving as Governor Elect of the Rocky Mountain District of Kiwanis. Carol has served on the National Governance Committee board for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), as well as many positions with Million Dollar Round Table Foundation, and served on the foundation of the local Parkview Hospital.
Carol also hosts a podcast about financially aging, called "JubilAge", with special guests offering tips and ideas about finances as we age. It can be found wherever you get your podcasts.
Carol and her husband Rick have five children and eleven grandchildren. In her free time she enjoys traveling, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and visiting the children, and grandchildren.
