Episode 29: Five Different Phases of Business ft. Allison Maslan

“And a year went by and it was just crickets. And I was like, what am I doing wrong here? And that's when I met you and realized,

“Oh, sales and marketing, That's a real thing.”

And it was a skill that I absolutely had to learn and I'm still honing that craft because it is such an important part of running a business, but it's just kind of funny. You could be the best-kept secret. But unless you have all the tools to be a business owner, your kind of just floating in the water with no wind to push your sails along.”

Welcome to a brand new episode of the Cash Flow CFO Podcast. Joining me today is Allison Maslan. Alison Maslin is the CEO of Pinnacle Global Network and the Wall Street Journal and bestselling author of “Scale or Fail”, which Damon John and Barbara Corcoran of Shark Tank have endorsed. Since the age of 19, Alison has built ten profitable businesses. Her company, Pinnacle Global Network, has been named one of the nation's fastest-growing companies by INC5000. With their unique technique, the Scale-It method, Alison and her group of accomplished business mentors helps CEOs and founders scale their businesses, accelerate their success, and build more fulfilling lives.

In this episode, Allison discusses what she observed and helped other business owners through while expanding her own enterprises, the different phases of business according to her book "Scale or Fail," and the importance of CFO in scaling a business, and much more!

Join us to learn the whole story!

“There are other people that are smarter than you in certain things. And so, as I began to trust my team and really just choose very smart, skilled people to come on, the business grew so much faster. And the more I got out of the way and let them do their magic, the things that they are trained with, they actually do much better.

So, with me away, they had to figure it out. I feel better. I'm more rested. I got to really sleep in today.”

Five Different Phases of Business

The five stages of business growth are experienced by all new businesses and start-ups, regardless of size. Every small business will face obstacles to overcome at every level of its development. Knowing where your company is in the cycle can help you identify the solutions you need to implement, develop growth plans, and make future plans.

There are new barriers to conquer at every step of business development. As a business owner, you might feel as though you're constantly in need of funding and assistance—at every stage. Every individual you hire to help you at each phase of the business life cycle has the potential to either waste your time and money or effectively execute the work and advance your goals.

“It's so great to give a visual, something for the business owner's brain to kind of latch onto and go,

“Oh, that makes sense!”

That's why I'm feeling the symptoms of all of these things at each phase. And for them to go,

“Okay, there is a path to get to the next level.”

Now I just need to, as you said, do the assessment, here are the things, check them off, because we like to check boxes as business owners, as entrepreneurs.”
