Mike Taber unofficially started his entrepreneurial career in 6th grade renting Nintendo games to his classmates for $1/day. During his junior year of college, he founded his first official business selling high-end gaming computers.


In 2003, he began working as a software developer at Pedestal Software, which was acquired by Altiris for more than $65 million just two years later. Frustrated by the financial inequities that came about as a result of the sale, he left Altiris in 2005 and has been self-employed ever since.


From 2009-2011, Mike cofounded three separate products with his business partner Rob Walling, all of which are still running today. The first is FounderCafe, a paid online community for software entrepreneurs who are serious about their businesses. The second is the Startups for the Rest of Us podcast which offers advice to bootstrapped software entrepreneurs on a variety of related topics. A new episode is released every Tuesday and is on track to reach 500 episodes in 2020. Finally, MicroConf is the world’s most popular community for independent startups. It’s held several times each year in the US, Europe, and will be in Asia for the first time in 2021.


Today, Mike spends most of his time working on Bluetick.io, a web-based SaaS app that gives sales reps and agencies a better way to follow up with their prospects, leads and customers.


Mike writes about software and startups on his blog at SingleFounder.com and lives near Worcester, Massachusetts with his wife, two kids and a pair of cats who merely tolerate each other.
