Namaste,

My Humanities in Medicine DEI Diversity Equity and Inclusion family,

Dr. Watson here for this week’s Humanities in Medicine DEI Weekly Wrap Up!

The Humanities in Medicine DEI Weekly Wrap Up:

A weekly tidbit illustrative of the significance and virtues of various findings in the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) arena, occasional healthcare and popular culture literature excerpts, and touches of humor and musicality.

For the Week of 4/5/23: HIM PE DEI Weekly Wrap Up 13: Dr. Saniya M. Habboub: Lebanese Red Cross Boss

DEI Weekly Wrap Up: Dr. Saniya M. Habboub: Lebanese Red Cross Boss

The month of April has been designated Arab American History Month. It is a period of time in which we are urged to celebrate, reflect upon, and honor the contributions of our Arab American friends, achievers, pioneers and trailblazers throughout that immensely accomplished, yet frequently misconstrued diaspora. It is our aspiration at the Humanities in Medicine Podcast Experience that the people of Arab American ancestry can be on the receiving end of more positive, humane, and inclusive depictions. The presentation of the uplifting story of Dr. Saniya M. Habboub and her five decades long contributory efforts to the Red Cross serves as an inspiration to all of us.

In addition,

In this month of Ramadan, I hope all of you who observe.

Have had a healthy, prosperous Ramadan season.

My people.

My listeners.

My diversity, equity and inclusion DEI family.

Dr. Saniya Moustafa Habboub claimed fame as the very first woman of Lebanese descent to attend a United States medical school, and in 1931, she became the first Lebanese woman to receive a Doctor of Medicine degree abroad and become a physician in the United States of America. Dr. Saniya Habboub graduated from MCP, or the Medical College of Pennsylvania, my FAVORITE landmark medical pedagogical and training institution for women.

The Humanities in Medicine Podcast Experience

Namaste: and welcome to The Humanities in Medicine Podcast Experience.

I am your host, visionary, and producer: Dr. Watson.
