E34 The Success Habit of Cooperation – Aligning with Others & Ourselves

You can try to build a team, but if you don’t have unity within yourself, you’ll end up with a group of disconnected individuals—not a powerhouse team.

There’s a secret to aligning your spirit, intellect, and action, and it can change how you lead, collaborate, and create success.

The success habit of cooperation doesn’t just mean getting along with others—it starts with mastering the dynamic inside your own mind and heart.

Understanding how your spirit, intellect, and physical actions work together (or against each other) is essential for real progress in business and life.

When leaders understand the root of internal cooperation, they can create stronger teams, make clear decisions, and help those around them succeed.

What You Need to Know

  • True cooperation begins with how you show up within yourself. If your thoughts, beliefs, and goals are misaligned, it’s hard to contribute to a team or lead others effectively.
  • Every group is made up of individuals, and each “I” must be mentally and emotionally on board before a true “we” can emerge.
  • We each live on three planes: spiritual (your passion, drive, and sense of purpose), intellectual (your reasoning, decision making, self-talk), and physical (your actions and habits).
  • Success grows when your inner spirit, thoughts, and actions are in cooperation—not conflict.
  • As a leader, it’s vital to pay attention: if your team isn’t cohesive, look for misalignments in vision or belief among individuals, not just in the group dynamic as a whole.

What You Need to Do

  • Reflect on your internal alignment. Ask yourself: Is my spirit (purpose), intellect (thoughts), and action (behavior) working together or at odds?
  • Encourage open and honest conversations in your team. Don’t assume that surface-level harmony means real cooperation—ask about individual perspectives and listen carefully to concerns.
  • When someone struggles on your team, approach them with curiosity and empathy, not blame. Support them in finding alignment, but understand that sometimes releasing someone from the team opens the door for them to find a better fit elsewhere.
  • Nurture a “like-minded” environment—not one where everyone thinks exactly the same, but where everyone shares a willingness for positive intent and forward motion.

Your Next Step

Take five minutes today to check in with yourself: Are you working with your spirit, intellect, and body as allies, or is one holding the others back?

Then, pick one team conversation you can initiate this week to dig a little deeper—unearth misalignments, celebrate your unique strengths, and build real cooperation from the inside out.

Success starts with the “I” before it ever becomes “team.”
