We start with my “long-lost cousin,” John Mascari, Director of Golf at Alpine Country Club and former member of the New Jersey PGA Section Board of Directors. John and I talk about something that often gets overlooked: being a great PGA Professional is really about being in the relationship business. We also get into the New Jersey Mid-Am, Alpine’s relationship with nearby Baltusrol, some terrific New Jersey courses you may not know, and why U.S. teams continue to struggle in international team competitions.
Then it's time to cross over to the gridiron with 2-time Super Bowl Champion Mark Collins. Mark is an avid golfer who shares some great stories about playing with Joe Montana and Marcus Allen during their Kansas City days, plus the putting lesson he recently received from PGA Tour legend Dave Stockton. We also talk Giants football, playing NFL games overseas, CTE, and the courses still on Mark's golf bucket list.
We round things out with former Pro Bowl quarterback Jim Everett, one of the smartest offensive football minds I've had the pleasure of talking with over the years. Jim breaks down the Steelers, their young quarterbacks, and the young QBs around the league who have caught his eye. He also takes us back to his own playing days to explain when the NFL game finally slowed down for him and what really happens during those Combine interviews.
And here's one you probably won't see coming, and I'm not sure how it's possible, but Jim owns all 762 football cards ever made of him.
