In this episode I'm joined by Top Instructor Tom Patri, Champions Tour Pro Rob Labritz, Edel Golf CEO Doug Coors, & PGA Professional turned fantastic Artist Chandler Withington.
TP accurately predicts that Rickie Fowler will win the Rocket Mortgage Classic. We also hear how players with unconventional swings and putting strokes made it work, how he gained length through technology, and the challenge of teaching this generation's junior golfers.
Rob Labritz shares stories from how he got his start as a PGA Professional and dominating the local New York events. We hear about the grind through mini Tours and barely making enough money to live week to week. How he got through Champions Tour qualifying to now playing on the Champions Tour. Rob also talks about his preparation for the US Senior Open, and picking the brains of his peers.
Doug Coors is a member of the Coors Brewing family. He talks about growing up Coors and getting into the family business. We hear when he first got interested in golf and how a chance request to help Edel Golf with their manufacturing process led to him buying the company. Doug also talks about their detailed fitting process and why their new SMS irons are going to take your game to new heights.
In the final segment of the show, I'm joined by Chandler Withington, a PGA Professional who worked at some of the best courses in the US like Seminole, Merion, and Hazeltine. He talks about what it was like being at those historic courses and helping to host the Walker Cup, a Ryder Cup, and the Women's PGA Championship. Meet the Host
I have a passion for game that started when I was 12 years old playing golf in the evenings with my father. I took lessons from a gentleman named Ken Friend at Tides Golf Club in Seminole, Florida and I have loved the game ever since. I grew up idolizing Jack Nicklaus. The '75 & '86 Masters remain two of my favorite sports memories.
Augusta National is my favorite place on the planet. Attending The Masters tournament is one of the highlights of every year since 2001. I cherish walking those hallowed grounds. It gives me a feeling of wonder and excitement that has become a part of me and I never want it to leave.
I was born in Pittsburgh and the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates are in my DNA. I also lived outside of Boston for several years and spending time at Fenway Park and the Boston Garden, infused my soul with the Red Sox and Celtics.
Tranquil late afternoon rounds of golf with my father and son some of my happiest moments. My annual golf trip with my buddies is always another highlight of the golf year. I also enjoy going to our local PGA Tour SuperStore and testing out new equipment with my son; it's one of our favorite things to do together.
