Talking Open Championship with Rob Strano, & Mark Wiebe, plus a big announcement about what's going on at The McLemore with Course Co-Designers Bill Bergin & Rees Jones, plus McLemore CEO Duane Horton.
Rob Strano shares his thoughts on this year's Open Championship, the media's fixation on Tiger Woods, the strategy mindset shift players need to make when playing links golf, and what's coming up on his TV show The Golf Kingdom.
Mark Wiebe won the 2013 Senior Open Championship. We get his perspective on what it's like to play in an Open Championship, who he likes at this year's tournament, what strategy changes players need to make to be successful playing links golf, and what his reaction would have been if Greg Norman had shown up in the '80s with an offer for him to go play on the LIV Tour.
Bill Bergin, Rees Jones, and Duane Horton from The McLemore join me in the final segment. We hear the exciting announcement that a second 18-hole course is being developed on the property. It will be called The Outpost and the course will contain 5 holes along the edge of Lookout Mountain providing incredible vistas. We also hear about Bill Bergin's experience playing in the 1984 Open Championship at St. Andrews when he shot 66 in the 3rd round, which was the low round of the tournament.
Rees Jones shares his thoughts on the new course at McLemore and how perfectly the land is suited to easily layout a new course. We also hear about his experience playing at St. Andrews.
Duane Horton not only shares the announcement about the new course, he also talks about several other exciting pieces of news including a new hotel and other non-golf activities they have available for companies, families, and couples who are looking for a great getaway destination.

Meet the Host
I’m Chris Mascaro, who is blessed to be the award-winning host and creator of Next on the Tee. The heart of the show is a deep gratitude for my guests who share great stories, and a genuine love for the game of golf. Each week, I’m fortunate to sit down with golf legends, major champions, top instructors, broadcasters, caddies, and storytellers who are kind enough to share their time, insights, and experiences with all of us.
I believe golf is at its best when it brings people together. My goal with every episode is to go beyond the leaderboard and the swing tips, and instead focus on the stories, lessons, and moments that stay with us—both on and off the course. I want listeners to enjoy the game more, think about it a little differently, and feel connected to the people who have shaped it.
Next on the Tee has been honored with multiple industry awards, including w3, Davey, and Communicator Awards, and I’m incredibly grateful for that recognition. Even more meaningful to me is the community that’s grown around the show—“Next on the Tee Nation.” I never take for granted that you choose to spend your time here, and I’m thankful every time you press play.
At the end of the day, I approach each episode with humility, curiosity, and appreciation—for the guests who trust me with their stories, and for the listeners who continue to take the journey with me.
