“So, how are you feeling about the new year approaching?” I asked my 22 year old son Rook on a phone call earlier this afternoon.  

Without missing a beat he said, “I am curious and excited” and then he offered up a few of the adventures he hopes to go on, some places he wants to explore near and the people he is looking forward to spending time with. 

He approached the future and his own “plans” with such openness and wonder about what will come to be, not lacking determination, rather leaving room for the mystery and all we can not yet know or see.

As he spoke I found myself aware of just how empowering his lens of curious excitement is for facing change of any kind or creating one’s next chapter.
